RECAP

TO THE TOP – Munich Strategy Everest Challenge

Recap.

Munich Strategy has virtually “climbed” Mount Everest during a step count challenge of 60 days. The team was supported by mountaineer Helga Hengge, the first German woman to stand on the top of the Seven Summits.

Our expedition leader managed to spark
our enthusiasm again and again, day after day.”

Helga Hengge, Mountaineer

To the peak in 60 days
The challenge ”TO THE TOP” was to virtually climb Mount Everest as a team. To succeed, every employee had to make 10.000 steps per day. Participants could connect their mobile phone or a pedometer to an app which showed every runner’s progress and the team’s ascent on a graphic of Mount Everest. Starting point was Kathmandu. The route leads through Base Camp and Camps 1 to 4 up to the summit at a height of 8.848 metres. Activities could be converted into steps.
Inspirational keynote
To kick off the challenge, Munich Strategy had invited Helga Hengge, the first German woman to successfully climb Mount Everest, to give an inspirational talk. Illustrated with spectacular photographs of her two-month long ascent via the North East ridge in Tibet, Helga shared her enthusiasm for the adventure of a great goal and for pushing physical and emotional boundaries in the face of challenge. She talked about the step-by-step ascent, the power of a team and about dealing with setbacks.
The speaker’s fee for this inspirational evening and a bonus amount will be donated to the non-profit association ‘Nepalhilfe Beilngries’. Since 1990, Nepalhilfe Beilngries has built schools and orphanages in Nepal and supported hospitals and other projects.
Next: B2Run
60 days
6.994,6 kilometers
10.957.527 steps
0,2 circumnavigations
We are sure about one thing: the challenge has motivated us to move more and we have clearly increased our day-to-day physical activities. After a couple of active and intense weeks we are already facing the next challenge: the Munich “B2Run” on July 16th. Thanks to „TO THE TOP“ and the kilometers we walked and ran, we are in a good shape.
